A Malaysian company plans to build a vehicle factory in Myanmar

A Malaysian car parts showroom is also set to open in Myanmar, and the car parts will be sold at low prices, the Chinese government's Xinhua News Agency reported, quoting a local popular news journal. Asia Motor is a company that manufactures 300,000 cars every year and exports and sells them to 27 countries. At the same time, the Myanmar authorities said that they are going to replace about 200 rental taxis operating in Yangon with Proton cars made in Malaysia. Proton Motor Company, based in Malaysia, produces about 12 types of cars every year and exports and sells them to more than 25 countries. A few days ago, when the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, came to Myanmar, rubber production, Agreements on cooperation in palm oil production and world tourism were signed between Malaysian and Myanmar entrepreneurs. According to Myanmar government statistics, during the 2010-11 trade year, the value of Malaysia-Myanmar trade was nearly US$600 million.
