6 Burmese death sentenced in Malaysia
KL : Malaysian court has ordered six Myanmar men to be hanged for killing another Myanmar man.
Those who were sentenced to death were Aung Soo Oo aka Slin, Win Noi (aka Kasin) Nagu Rashi, Monji aka Abdul Kareen Hashin They are Suo Suo (aka Sadula) and Zaw Oo To. When the death sentence was announced, the defendant's family members were also present.
Judge Mohammed Zabindin Mouddia said the defendants had not convincingly argued that they did not commit the shooting and that the only penalty for murder was the death penalty.
On June 26, 6 Burmese assailants killed another Burmese, Sadib Hussain (21), at Jalan 3/3A, Jalan Ipoh. Two other Burmese men, Hla Maung Tha and Sharik Hossein To, who were present at the time of the Asopa incident, were also injured.
The judge ordered that Aung Soo Oo be sentenced to 6 years in prison in addition to the death penalty, and the other defendants to serve 3 years in prison along with the death penalty, respectively, for causing serious injury to Tuo Tho's son.
According to court records, the defendant, Nagu, was previously arrested for drug possession, and Munji was detained for more than a year for beating the other party to the point of bleeding. Defense lawyers hope to fight back against the court's ruling. According to a defense lawyer, the defendants have been living in Malaysia for about 10 years.
In this case, 18 witnesses testified on the side of the prosecution and 9 witnesses on the side of the defendant (including the defendants).
